Infrastructure

We deliver infrastructure projects from concept and feasibility, detailed engineering design, procurement and construction through to operations.

Bulk materials handling

The majority of the materials handling systems associated with our major projects have been provided through our inhouse capability. Our bulk materials handling solutions cover conveyors, stockyard arrangements and machines, open cut run of mine receival hoppers, reject bins, conveyor systems and sampling and analysis systems.

Port and marine engineering

Our port experience extends back to the early 1990s, when we undertook major projects at Dalrymple Bay Coal terminal in Australia, Tarahan Coal Port in Indonesia, Pentagis and Air Tawar in Indonesia.
International expansion, coupled with demand of port facilities for increased coal exports, particularly in Queensland and New South Wales, has led to our engagement from the early design phase on multiple projects.

Key elements of our infrastructure capability include experience in addressing and finding solutions to projects’ most challenging constraints; including high water tables, contaminated land, uncontrolled fill, road and rail diversions and designing infrastructure to fit on small footprints of constrained sites.

Overland conveyors

Over our 35 history, we have been involved in the design, construction and commissioning of more than 300 conveyors including six major overland conveyors, ranging up to 21 km at Lake Lindsay in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.

All components of our plant designs interface to produce the best outcome for our clients. Once constructed, conveyors are rigorously tested to ensure they meet design objectives.

Two overland conveyors, one 1,500 t/h by 17 km and the other 2,400 t/h by 10 km, were included in our detailed design to commissioning of the largest CHPP in Australia in 1998 at Dawson Mine in the Bowen Basin.

Sedgman Consulting

Through the acquisition of Queensland-based Yeats Consulting Engineers in 2013, Sedgman expanded its infrastructure service capability particularly in the areas of major civil works, environmental solutions and, planning and approvals management. Rebranded as Sedgman Consulting, the Company has over 60 staff across Queensland.
