We use BIM 360, a cloud-based platform for all onsite construction and commissioning activities. Through our inhouse Sedgman BIM Coordinators, the detail design model is uploaded into the cloud along with all project documentation including detailed engineering drawings, shop detail drawings, data sheets, vendor drawings and specifications. Each drawing is then automatically attributed to the corresponding item within the model to allow intuitive access to the project documentation.
Through a tablet interface, site based personnel can select an item within the model, identify each item part number, access associated engineering design drawings, shop detail drawings and accurately measure distances. This instant access to project documentation streamlines the installation and reduces downtime due to inaccurate information.
Sedgman utilises BIM360 to complete all construction verification and commissioning checklists, punch-listing, non-conformance reporting (NCR), drawing redlines and equipment status determination.
Sedgman has successfully executed projects utilising BIM360 since 2015 and has progressively rolled out additional functionality to now use the tool as a primary method of transparently informing the client team on Quality Assurance status, and direct engagement with subcontract resources on defect closeout. With client appetite increasing for the BIM databases to add value to operations, Sedgman continues to enhance the tool to exceed client expectations.
