Mount Isa Copper Project

Sedgman has supplied and operated two separate crushing facilities and the SAG mill feed for Xstrata’s Mt Isa Operations since 2006 – Blackstar Open Cut Primary Crushing Circuit and George Fisher Fine Crushing Circuit, supplying up to 6 Mt/a of product.

Sedgman also designed, constructed and commissioned an independent overland conveyor to feed Xstrata’s Heavy Media Plant transferring ownership to the client, the providing ongoing maintenance. In addition, Sedgman has carried out a number of small parcels of specialised crushing and screening trials at this site for Xstrata.

The crushing plants consist of a primary jaw crusher which can take and crush rock up to 850mm in size. This product is then size selected over a number of screens and further crushed by two cone crushers until the size is reduced to a (P80 of 14mm) at around 380 t/h.
